Darrin Scott Sherrill is an Experienced Boat Owner

Boating can be a very expensive hobby. People go boating for sport, vacation, or even work. And the environment in which your boat is kept affects the longevity of the boat as well. Dry dock storage or mooring in a marina are parts of an environment that should be considered. And any repairs to boats can be just as costly as repairing a car, if not more expensive. But people don’t own a boat with repairs in mind, they own them for enjoyment!

Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia knows both the positives as well as the negatives of boat owning. He bought his first Sea Ray in 2001, and has owned either one or two Sea Rays at any given point from that point to present day.  Currently, he is the proud owner of only one Sea Ray, but he has been a faithful Sea Ray owner for over a decade. Darrin Scott Sherrill enjoys boating and his ownership of a Sea Ray demonstrates that very much.

And not only has Darrin Scott Sherrill of 1095 Mockingbird Lane in Cumming, Georgia, owned a boat for personal pleasure, but he has vacationed by boat as well. For four years, he along with other Sea Ray owners took vacations to the Bahamas by boat. His first Bahamas vacation with the Sea Ray club was on a 29-foot SunDancer. He upgraded his second year to a 42-foot SunDancer, but then upgraded again for the third and fourth Bahamas vacation by taking a 51-foot SunDancer.

Each of the vacations consisted of around 30 boats, so not only was Darrin Scott Sherrill able to vacation with his boat, but he was able to talk and travel with other boat owners. Darrin Scott Sherrill enjoys boating and being outdoors. His love for boat ownership has led to his owning a boat for over a decade.

Cruise Vacations are not new to Darrin Scott Sherrill

Many people enjoy a number of different types of vacations. Some people may like to do some rough camping up in the mountains, some may like to vacation in the winter and go skiing, and others may travel abroad to experience a culture different from their own. And some people, like Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia, like to take cruises. The cruise industry has its own ups and downs, but that doesn’t stop people from enjoying the experience.

For a while, Darrin Scott Sherrill had been a regular cruise passenger. There was a period of several years where he and his family would take cruise vacations regularly. Darrin Scott Sherrill’s cruise vacations were so consistent that he and his family belonged to the Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Club. However, it has been about 4 years since Darrin Scott Sherrill of 1095 Mockingbird Lane in Cumming, Georgia has been on his last cruise vacation. However, that doesn’t stop the Royal Caribbean Cruise line from sending him material, tempting him to take yet another cruise vacation.

There are a number of different cruise lines and cruise destinations that interested vacationers can choose from. Some cruises go to Alaska, some to Hawaii, and some frequent the Caribbean Islands. For his past cruise vacations, Darrin Scott Sherrill always vacationed in the sunny warm weather of the Caribbean. And while it has been years since his last cruise vacation, Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia was sure to create a lot of lasting memories from each one of the cruises. What made the cruises so wonderful were not only the exotic islands and water, but the ship environment as well. Darrin Scott Sherrill enjoyed many of the activities and shows on the ship, as well as the variety of delicious foods. 

Darrin Scott Sherrill Enjoyed Taking Bahamas Vacations

Lots of people enjoy going away to somewhere different and exotic when they go on vacation. Vacationing somewhere “different” may vary depending on where you live geographically and what your typical vacation usually consists of. But, for Darrin S. Sherrill Georgia, some of the past vacations he thoroughly enjoyed were his trips to the Bahamas.

No doubt, a trip or vacation to the Bahamas is very exciting. What made their vacation experience slightly different from other vacationers was their method of travel. Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia took a few weeks off in the summers of 2001, 2002, and 2003 to travel to the Bahamas by boat.

Darrin Scott Sherrill of 1095 Mockingbird Lane in Cumming, Georgia took these boat-traveled vacations along with other vacationers who belonged to a small club of Sea Ray owners. The Bahamas-bound vacationers would typically travel together in a group of around 30 boats. Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia enjoyed the two-week-long vacations, and he would extend his family’s vacations when the group returned home by cruising in his boat either around Florida or making a trip to the Chesapeake Bay before deeming the vacation over.

Darrin Scott Sherrill loved the trips and changed boats several times for the vacation. The first trip was made in a 29-foot SunDancer and the second vacation in a 41-foot SunDancer. However, Darrin S. Sherrill Georgia saved the best for last and took the last two Bahamas vacations in a 51-foot SunDancer, which qualified as a yacht more than a boat. However, no matter the size of the water vehicle, Darrin Scott Sherrill enjoyed the Bahamas vacation with other Sun Ray owners. 

Darrin Scott Sherrill Is a Multiple Club Member

Darrin Scott Sherrill is both an active and inactive club member. Some of his memberships are in name only, but he still enjoys being a part of the organization. 

One of the clubs that Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia is currently a member of is the Hummer Club. He has been a member of the Hummer Club since June of 2000 and was active within the club until 2008. However, while Darrin Scott Sherrill stopped being active after 2008, he is still a member of the Hummer Club. But, he admits that this will be his last year because he sold his Hummer in the early part of 2012. When Darrin Scott Sherrill was an active member of the Hummer Club, he enjoyed it immensely by participating in the off road trips that the club scheduled each year. 

Darrin Scott Sherrill also belongs to a small club called Sea Ray. Since February, 2001, he and his family have owned at least one and sometimes two Sea Ray boats at any given point. Currently, Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia is the proud owner of one Sea Ray. And as a proud Sea Ray owner, he has vacationed with other Sea Ray owners.  In the past, with other owners, he had taken summer trips by boat to the Bahamas in a group of around 30 boats each vacation.

Another club that Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia is a member of, but not active in, is the Mercedes Car Club. While he belongs to the car club, he readily admits that he has never done anything with the local chapter. However, whether he is active or inactive in the clubs he’s a member of, Darrin Scott Sherrill enjoys being a member. 

Piloting is a Passion for Darrin Scott Sherrill

Darrin Scott Sherrill knows that he has been fortunate enough to make one of his life goals into a reality. He had always wondered what it would be like to pilot his own plane and whether or not it was something that he could do. While it was something that he had been interested in doing for a while, he finally took the steps to turn his desire into destiny when he took training courses to become a private pilot in 2007.

Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia earned not only his Private Pilot Certification, but also finished Instrument Rating and became High Performance certified as well. Getting his High Performance Certification and Instrument Rating took additional training and testing in order to add it to his private pilot certificate. And while he did everything necessary to become a private pilot with extra certifications in 2007, Darrin Scott Sherrill decided to continue earning higher pilot certifications again in 2010.

As Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia was already High Performance certified, he decided to go ahead and become a commercial pilot. After more training and hours of practicing and testing, Darrin Scott Sherrill of 1095 Mockingbird Lane Cumming, Georgia, earned his Commercial Pilot Certification in May of 2010. What drove him to become a commercial pilot was that as a commercial pilot, Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia would be able to be paid for piloting. People can now pay him to fly places, unlike a private pilot who can only fly for their own enjoyment or business. Private pilots cannot legally be paid for flying passengers, but as a commercial pilot, Darrin Scott Sherrill can be paid for such a service. And Darrin S. Sherrill Georgia has around 675 hours of flight experience.

Community involvement is a nice way to get out of the house and meet people who may share some of the same interests, hobbies, or concerns as your own. Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia knows how enjoyable community involvement can be. He has had memberships to quite a few clubs and associations. He currently belongs to the Hummer Club, Sea Ray, and the Mercedes Car Club; he is also a member of the Lake Lanier Association.

While Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia is a member of the Lake Lanier Association, he admits that he’s not very active in the association, so none of the other association members really know him on a personal level. However, Darrin Scott Sherrill from 1095 Mockingbird Lane Cumming, Georgia, knows that the association gets involved in a number of legal issues. While Darrin S. Sherrill Georgia doesn’t personally participate as an association member, he is aware of their current issues.

As a member of the Lake Lanier Association, Darrin Scott Sherrill gets periodic newsletters. Through the association, Darrin S. Sherrill Georgia also pays to help maintain and perform major lake clean-up each fall season. One of the current legal issues that Darrin S. Sherrill of Georgia knows the association is involved in is with Alabama and Florida water over usage.

And while he is not personally involved in the association, he has been a part of the association since 2000 when he purchased a house that was within the associated community. There are many homes that are part of an association, especially if there is a lake or a park that the association pays to maintain. And while paying to maintain the lake is part of the association’s duties, Darrin Scott Sherrill has little interest in participating in the association further.
